Deadly Mittens

If you are reading this, you know what it’s about. It’s the Daleks, in mittens!
Yarn
Sport weight, 150 m (164 yard) / 50 grams.
Sample uses Cascade 220 Sport, 100% wool
50 g Magenta MC
50 g Black CC
Needles
One set of 5 dpn’s or
80 cm (32 inch) long circular needle for magic loop.
2.5 mm ( US 1 ½) or to obtain gauge.
Gauge
28 sts over 34 rows = 10 cm (4 inch)

Abbreviations
CC = Contrast color
CO = Cast on
Cont = Continue
K = Knit
MC = Main color
P = Purl
Rem = Remaining
Rep = Repeat
Rnd(s) = Rouds
SH = Stitch holder
Sl = Slip
St(s) = Stitche(s)

Pattern Starts!
With MC, CO 60 sts, join to knit in rnd.
Work chart row 2.
Chart row 3: Bring both yarns to front of work. [P1 with CC, p1 with MC] rep to end, always bring new color up from under old color when switching colors.
Chart row 4: With yarn still in front of work, [p1 with CC, p1 with MC] rep to end, always bring new color over old color when switching colors.
Work chart rows 5-22
Rows 23-24: Rep rows 3 – 4.

Work chart rows 25 – 39
Thumb hole left, row 40
Work chart over next 17 sts, sl next 10 sts onto SH or scrap yarn. With working yarn, CO 10 new sts, work rest of the row.
Thumb hole right, row 40
Work chart over next 3 sts, sl next 10 sts onto SH or scrap yarn. With working yarn, CO 10 new sts and work the rest of the row.
Cont working the chart until all rnds are knitted and you are left with 8 sts on your needles.
Cut yarn. Using a tapestry needle, thread the yarn end through all the rem sts, pull tight and weave in the loose end.

Thumbs
With the wrist of the mitten towards you, pick up 10 sts from the SH or scrap yarn, pick up the next st from back to front onto your needle as well. Turn the mitten so that the top is towards you, pick up the cast on sts from above the thumb hole and pick up the next sts from back to front onto your needle as well. = 22 sts.
Start working the thumb chart.
Cont working the thumb chart until all rnds are knitted and you are left with 6 sts on your needles.
Cut yarn. Using a tapestry needle, thread the yarn end through all the rem sts, pull tight and weave in the loose end.
